The City of the Isle of Palms recently enacted a series of ordinances and has increased enforcement of previously existing ordinances in an effort to balance the needs of year-round residents with the needs of short-term vacationers.
This list is not intended to be a substitute for the actual ordinances but a brief summary of what we consider to be some of the major regulations that our guests should be aware of.
- The City of IOP Limits the maximum number of persons and vehicles allowed on a rental property at any time. Please check with Manager since stricter limits may apply to your rental.
- Each property has a maximum capacity of overnight occupants and vehicles permitted. Vehicle capacities are especially important within condo complexes and communities like Wild Dunes or Beachside. You can find the capacities listed on the property page.
- From 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m., no loud noises (voices, stereos, etc.) are allowed.
- Fireworks are prohibited year-round, including July 4th and New Year’s Eve
- No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the beach or streets.
- Dogs may run free on the beach from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. September 15th - March 31st, and 5:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. April 1st - September 14th with the owner present with leash and control over the dog. Dog excrement must be picked up (take a baggie with you) and disposed of properly.
- ABSOLUTELY NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY UNLESS YOUR RESERVATION AGREEMENT SPECIFICALLY ALLOWS PETS.
- No littering. Yellow trash barrels are provided on the beach by the City.
- Tents, canopies, beach chairs, kites, beach umbrellas and similar property are allowed on the beach during daylight hours, so long as such property is being attended by the user. Any personal property left on the beach after sunset is deemed abandoned and subject to disposal by the City.

- Waste Collection: Please refer to the collection schedule posted at your property or your check in material.

- A parking ordinance is in effect from May 15 through September 15 from 9:00 am to 6:00pm. Guests are exclusively permitted to use the
