Area Info

Isle of Palms is a place where history and nature coexist, and visitors can connect with the island's natural beauty and rich tapestry of history! Located, less than 15 miles away from downtown Charleston, with sandy beaches and plenty of places to be social or relax!

The area itself has a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century, as the Isle of Palms was originally used for agricultural purposes and was mostly rural until the 20th century. First settled in the 1800s, it began to develop as a resort destination after the construction of a bridge to the island in 1931, making it more accessible. The island quickly became a popular getaway for Charleston's residents. Over the years, the Isle of Palms has seen substantial development,  as it grew into a well-known destination for vacationers, offering residential communities, vacation homes, and rental properties.

Make sure to set up outside of designated swimming areas and stay at least 50 feet away from swimmers.Check for any specific rules that may apply to the pier or dock you plan to visit.

Avoid Crowds: Many anglers fish early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the crowds of sunbathers.Pier Access: The fishing pier near the County Park is private and reserved for guests of the adjacent Sea Cabins and Oceanside Villas. You can, however, fish from the public docks at the Isle of Palms Marina.
